At the end of Mariager Fjord lies Hobro – the town with two harbours. On the southern side of the fjord, you’ll find Hobro Marina and Fishing Harbour, where the maritime atmosphere blends beautifully with the town’s old and charming buildings.

On the southern side of the fjord, surrounded by historic buildings, you’ll find one of Hobro’s two harbours – the Hobro Marina and Fishing Harbour. Here, the scent of the fjord and tar fills the air, and the maritime atmosphere is almost tangible. The harbour is a natural meeting place where locals and visitors come together for a friendly chat. A welcoming environment is cherished here, where commercial and recreational fishermen, sailors, and small boats share the space.

Within the harbour area, you’ll also find Denmark’s oldest wooden shipyard, which has been building and maintaining ships since 1849.

Visiting sailors are welcome to make free use of the harbour’s facilities, including a clubhouse with lounge area, kitchen, toilets, and showers.

Close to experiences, nature, and city Life

Housed in Hobro’s former gasworks, the GAS Museum tells the fascinating story of gas – from the first gas lamps to modern energy solutions. Also located at the harbour is the Pleasure Craft Museum, set in an old warehouse, where you can experience historic boats and the authentic scent of wood and tar.
Don’t miss the Maritime Culture Centre Mariagerfjord, featuring exciting exhibitions – including the skeleton of a stranded whale – and a range of activities throughout the year.

The surrounding area offers plenty of natural beauty. Just a few kilometres east of the harbour lies the Østerskoven Forest, where you can enjoy views of the fjord among oak trees more than a hundred years old – an ideal destination for a short trip on foot.

Alternatively, cross the fjord to explore Bramslev Bakker, one of Hobro’s most scenic natural areas, with several marked hiking trails – including the popular Panorama Route.

If you’re feeling hungry, Café K is only a five-minute walk from the harbour. And for shopping or dining, Hobro’s pedestrian street with shops, restaurants, and cafés is just 800 metres away.
